Abstract: Biography: Atsuo Kawamura (IEEE Life Fellow) received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1981. After the five-year-stay at the University of Missouri-Columbia as a faculty member, he joined the department of electrical and computer engineering at Yokohama National University in 1986. After he retired there as a professor emeritus in 2019, he was a professor of power electronics endowed chair till 2023. Now he is adjunct investigator at YNU.
His interests are in the fields of power electronics, digital control, electric vehicles, train traction control and robotics. He received several Transactions Paper Awards from IEEE and IEE of Japan, including 2008 EPE-PEMC Award and 2025 IEEE William E. Newell Power Electronics Award. |
